Roy Clinging (Sunday/Monday)

Roy is well known throughout the country as a fine exponent and interpreter of traditional songs and tunes. He has a wide range of songs and ballads at his fingertips and a rich repertoire of local (Cheshire) material to draw on. Accompanying himself on English concertina and acoustic guitar, he has played most of the major UK Festivals and has a wide repertoire of material to draw from including traditional English songs, 19th century broadsides, Cheshire material, contemporary and self-penned pieces and a few lively dance tunes to balance the mix.

Roy will also be performing his new show:
When This Old Hat Was New

Drawing on a wide variety of material from documentary and archive sources we travel through a random slice of interesting happenings and events of the 19th century, keeping an eye on many of the major changes and innovations of an immensely volatile and highly productive age but not forgetting the human and humorous side of life.

Music Hall classics, broadside ballads, folk and popular songs of the era all make an appearance along with poems, speeches and monologues in this highly original and entertaining show.
