The Time Bandits Ceilidh Band (Friday & Saturday)

The Time Bandits Ceilidh Band are Helen Armstrong (violin), Helen de Lemos (bagpipes, recorders and saxophone) Ian Jones (melodeon and flute), Jamie Matthews (bouzouki, guitar and cittern), Phil Sumner (bass) and Chris Lee (drums).

After a number of years working as predominantly a concert band in the local folk clubs, the Time Bandits are becoming a regular fixture on the North West ceilidh scene. With a repertoire stretching back over 500 years, they bring alive Renaissance and Elizabethan dance tunes, the music of the Playford collection and traditional English country dance music alongside their own compositions. The recent addition of Chris Lee on drums to the line up has provided additional dynamics and depth to the band’s sound.

Their most recent recording “Cold air of morning” was released in 2009. The band plan to begin work on a new CD later this year.
