Duties

Volunteer as a Steward willing to work up to 12 hours during the weekend. The duties will be varied covering the main gate & camp sites, and shifts at festival venues where you will be facilitating, checking wristbands and, in some cases, selling event tickets on the door.

Alternatively you can volunteer as a Site Set up/breakdown Steward if you are available before or after the weekend (i.e. from Wednesday 24th May and on Tues 30th May). Note that you should be capable of bending, lifting and carrying.

Do you have a preference for which late night you work?

Priority will be given to applications from people who are flexible about the hours/days they work. Once you have checked in for duty we expect that you will be available for all the days you have agreed to work.

IMPORTANT

If you have stewarded for us before, thank you, and welcome back! If you haven’t previously stewarded at Chester Folk Festival, we hope you will decide to join our team of dedicated volunteers. Stewards are a vital part of our organisation; they handle a huge variety of tasks and without them the festival simply couldn’t happen.

Please read the T&Cs below before completing your application form. While all stewards give their time voluntarily, we do need to make sure everyone is aware of the responsibilities that go along with being a steward.

Terms and Conditions

  1. You will be given a weekend ticket in return for 10 – 12 hours work over the weekend.

  2. Hours before 10am or after midnight are viewed as antisocial and count as double.

  3. You can volunteer for less than the full weekend in which case we make your hours a reasonable proportion of the time you’re going to be there.

  4. Everyone is expected to be available to do two evening shifts – one early and one late (up to midnight or 1am in the Community Centre).

  5. Everyone is expected to do at least one shift on the Gate.

  6. If you have specific requests then please tell us and we’ll see what we can do.  However, please be aware that to make the Festival work all required shifts need to be covered.

* All details collected will be used in accordance with our privacy policy.

Thanks for applying to volunteer with us! We'll get back to you within 2 weeks of you submitting the form. (Please check your spam folder!)
