'The Little Swiss 24'

From Martyn Harvey: I wrote a 50th celebration dance for this mile stone and did it on the Sunday night but left it without a name, deliberately.

Threw it at the dancers as an open invitation to come up with a name and Melrose Ceilidh Quintet chose the winner in the break.

The couple whose entry won was one that I had met an Upton FF ceilidh back in the early 90s.

Their offering was 'The Little Swiss 24'  and their names are Sarah & Steve Guy.

The dance is a Sicilian to a 24 bar Polka.

A      Face your opposite. Clap together, right, right, together, left, left.

All Left hand turn opposite and face your partner.

With your partner. Clap together, right, right, together, left, left.

All left hand turn into a left hand star.

B1    The 4 of you in the left hand star, balance in and out x 2.

All dance a left hand star x 1 1/2 to move on to a new couple.

Your new 4 make a right hand star.

B2    Your new 4 right hand star, balance in and out x 2.

All dance a right hand star once round.

Start again with this couple.
